I found the small star shaker dies and the Paper Rose Star texture die and thought I could do something with them. This is what I came up with. </span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhM0LKKfGDEneis3_D2nT23z1KIzZb0p8BjNoXSquSEnZgTyW6D-1uAIxoMbDv-nhG9co5K4nEjh2VrOn3CrHg6l1MCNoKGszT7oboFDL7NZUNl6STGpjGJNHGvzOwaRc_lJbVJa6UZg8fdBAHb-1nmliHitLVn0VJ3XzO_t7jLKUIJGMd3tMwRZ4yU/s2745/C72B3FE0-0249-4187-92F2-14C12A636CF9.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2745" data-original-width="2236" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhM0LKKfGDEneis3_D2nT23z1KIzZb0p8BjNoXSquSEnZgTyW6D-1uAIxoMbDv-nhG9co5K4nEjh2VrOn3CrHg6l1MCNoKGszT7oboFDL7NZUNl6STGpjGJNHGvzOwaRc_lJbVJa6UZg8fdBAHb-1nmliHitLVn0VJ3XzO_t7jLKUIJGMd3tMwRZ4yU/w522-h640/C72B3FE0-0249-4187-92F2-14C12A636CF9.jpeg" width="522" /></a></div><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;">They look deceptively simple, but I cut 120 of the stars out which took a looonng time. It involved some techniques I haven’t used before and I learned a lot. It actually took me 3 tries to get them to turn out good enough to send. Here’s mine:</span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3HsnY_cVlwH3wHMR060sLPQ8EzoQlLy3GZTcjMNhtc3XGnKzHJzrqnwy6oONZMrHVLGhw2121jzVxlLgLcjuEsTKuRsJ6LajcZfxqJ1H3vwkuCSgqHYszw4FYCgzvo_S3H7FDAdcw_8MeHmUjaHD1ZWBrk7dhuoYDPc7waoeTTCx4QFCOxwKmO2K-/s3062/D16BA534-BAC0-4B7A-9F77-9962F7100817.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3062" data-original-width="2296" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3HsnY_cVlwH3wHMR060sLPQ8EzoQlLy3GZTcjMNhtc3XGnKzHJzrqnwy6oONZMrHVLGhw2121jzVxlLgLcjuEsTKuRsJ6LajcZfxqJ1H3vwkuCSgqHYszw4FYCgzvo_S3H7FDAdcw_8MeHmUjaHD1ZWBrk7dhuoYDPc7waoeTTCx4QFCOxwKmO2K-/w480-h640/D16BA534-BAC0-4B7A-9F77-9962F7100817.jpeg" width="480" /></span></a></div><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"><br /></span><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">I haven’t done much with masking before, so this was a learning experience. Wow! So much fun!</p><p>This is one I made for the <a href="https://mftstamps.com/blogs/news/wsc501" target="_blank">MFT </a><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: arial; font-size: 11pt; white-space: pre-wrap;"><a href="https://mftstamps.com/blogs/news/wsc501" target="_blank">Wednesday Sketch Challenge - Sketch 501</a>. For all black stamping I use the MFT Extreme Black Hybrid ink pad. (I love this ink pad! It stamps clear & dark every time.)</div><p></p><p><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; white-space: pre-wrap;">Next I used blending brushes to add brown ink around the edges, mint/aqua on the bottom, and pink on the top. I used a coral ink inside the pods and then used a watercolor pen to remove some ink from inside the pods to add dimension. After gluing on pink & teardrop crystals, I added the sentiment strip. </span></p><p><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; white-space: pre-wrap;">I’m working on cards for the MFT Summer School. Four are done & I have one to go. I’ll post those shortly, once I’ve finished the last one.</span></p><p><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; white-space: pre-wrap;">Thanks for stopping by & have a great day!</span></p>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-720621407417498407.post-77145555566222062922020-08-10T02:28:00.000-04:002020-08-10T02:28:28.511-04:00Happy Birthday Poppies<p>Here is the card I made for the Simon Says 8/3/20 Monday challenge. I think I went a bit overboard with the techniques, but I’m having fun trying out new methods and combinations. I’m actually pretty happy with the way it turned out. <div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2PHJec6FrYJk5IoJL5k9GbqMNLyIS2CNs9BEA9TTGUcRn8ZBLajL3AWWQInxk8Keip7jwuA4rureaKqipNd1Y6rTvPG3QBGmCdtgA08pcqIO-HpfipxL2qH2oq2U6A3PHpQaMoVSlobo/s640/A23FB59E-C5DB-42F7-8ABD-BA3B24D7701A.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="493" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2PHJec6FrYJk5IoJL5k9GbqMNLyIS2CNs9BEA9TTGUcRn8ZBLajL3AWWQInxk8Keip7jwuA4rureaKqipNd1Y6rTvPG3QBGmCdtgA08pcqIO-HpfipxL2qH2oq2U6A3PHpQaMoVSlobo/s0/A23FB59E-C5DB-42F7-8ABD-BA3B24D7701A.jpeg" /></a></div><div><br /><div><br /></div><div>My idea was to combine some rustic features with some more elegant features for contrast. </div><div><br /></div><div>For the base I used watercolor paper, and created the background by sprinkling Dark Brown Brushos on the paper and misting it with water (you can’t see much of it, but I did the back too so it shows up there). </div><div><br /></div><div>For the mat I then took a wood grain embossing folder, ran medium tan ink lightly over the raised portion of the folder, then ran it through my Cuttlebug with tan cardstock. I then cut it to size with a rectangular stitched die and ran a brown ink pad around the edges to keep the rustic look. It would have probably looked better if I had gone down one size on the die. Next time!</div><div><br /></div><div>I used the Altenew Painted Flower stamp & die set to make the flowers, and another die to cut the corner flourishes out of cream shimmer paper. After die cutting 3 sets of the Happy Birthday and gluing them together, I heat embossed them with 3 layers of Lindy’s Stamp Gang Embossing Powder in Magic Moon Pearl.</div><div><br /></div><div>To add a little extra texture, I added a few loops of burgundy and brown string. The flowers were attached using foam dots </div><div><br /></div><div>I am entering this in 2 challenges: <div>- the <span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: arial; font-size: 11pt; white-space: pre-wrap;"><a href="//altenewblog.com/july-2020-inspiration-challenge/" target="_blank">Altenew Vintage, Farmhouse Color Palette Challenge</a></span></div><div>- and the <span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; Oh, we did get married! However, since the Woodford Inn closed without warning the day after Christmas, we decided to elope instead. <div><br /></div><div>As in any good relationship, it was a compromise. I still wanted something special, not just a JOP/City Hall quickie. Been there, done that. </div><div><br /></div><div>We had been planning a vacation to NYC anyway, so we agreed to have a nice private ceremony in Central Park: with a real wedding dress, photographer, carriage ride, & nice wedding luncheon. A few family members talked about coming but it didn’t work out.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifSPJoq77DZBGv0TTV4U68zbHEw6Pr7ruObrsaJB-NgY3MiO3oaCItXt_ZV4ZxX8KsTJt-Z4pQvrdFmzMiHeUaYQby-24wdNvo1TRLFtatwv_JCNs5WlAX0trQ2V7n0_XbwZVWH1NQaPw/s1900/C5A40941-4F9C-4BB6-B5C8-68E3F9C8255A-1239-000001F55B8155E9.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1425" data-original-width="1900" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifSPJoq77DZBGv0TTV4U68zbHEw6Pr7ruObrsaJB-NgY3MiO3oaCItXt_ZV4ZxX8KsTJt-Z4pQvrdFmzMiHeUaYQby-24wdNvo1TRLFtatwv_JCNs5WlAX0trQ2V7n0_XbwZVWH1NQaPw/s640/C5A40941-4F9C-4BB6-B5C8-68E3F9C8255A-1239-000001F55B8155E9.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">P</div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-wT-0bqYoU3mpm70-ceQ43ofytkb4VRMDoxfQddlPWLitOZA5-s2R_g2osZw6u86dyqByDYNp44p82zr0Zt0Q5fee8Fagpo-ne1Ru4zVYGXsYqfskKu-DrWToapSLB7zhEfrUGrNzGR0/s630/9732554C-131D-475F-8DFB-1E3495DE1C91-24362-00000499999165DC.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="472" data-original-width="630" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-wT-0bqYoU3mpm70-ceQ43ofytkb4VRMDoxfQddlPWLitOZA5-s2R_g2osZw6u86dyqByDYNp44p82zr0Zt0Q5fee8Fagpo-ne1Ru4zVYGXsYqfskKu-DrWToapSLB7zhEfrUGrNzGR0/s0/9732554C-131D-475F-8DFB-1E3495DE1C91-24362-00000499999165DC.png" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>So, on October 1st, 2019, 2 women came up to my hotel room to do my hair & makeup; and I donned a gorgeous wedding gown of champagne lace. <span style="font-family: "arial"; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: 700; white-space: pre-wrap;">Putting it all together, I’ve had to rethink some decisions I thought were made. The invitations and signs I wanted to use just didn’t work with the decor my heart was set on, they were too modern. The look I’m going for is elegant & luxurious: lace, mercury glass, champagne, gold, pearls - almost Victorian.</span><br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></b></div>
<b><span style="font-size: large;">I haven't posted in over a week, so I figured I'd share some of my reception decorating plans, in particular: linens.</span></b><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><br /></b><b>A good lace is such a pretty look! It fits in with my elegant/luxe theme. I’ve decided that I’d like to use a satin tablecloth with an overlay of lace with sequins & embroidery</b><b>. I'm going to purchase the satin tablecloths, you can get them very inexpensively, but I'm going to make the lace overlays. One reason for that is cost. Anything I've found ready-made that I really like is prohibitively expensive. In addition, if I make </b></span><span style="font-size: large;"><b>them, I can make matching chair sashes, which you </b><b>typically </b></span><b><span style="font-size: large;">can't find</span>.</b><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">
<b>The dining room we'll be in has 4' square tables which means we’ll need 14 tables in all. This makes the linen cost more expensive than if we were using larger round tables, but not having to rent the tables makes up for it. </b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><br /></b>
<b>I can find 90" square satin tablecloths & I'll make 72" square overlays that we'll lay on the diagonal.</b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><br /></b>
<b>These are the tables & chairs.</b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">
</span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuablE5U5QUg4KKVpfL5IEdRqjBV-vpNj7Z18BHHfpUypD-IaOcHtMNEB3symVH3-ij1e-403J-mi6rfDcyDO5jsCocOs6TdCAi97JAYBZY2CWTEhkfEYjkAghhdF0aJIKkawKULUVnuM/s1600/IMG_1005_20181006163328386.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="960" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuablE5U5QUg4KKVpfL5IEdRqjBV-vpNj7Z18BHHfpUypD-IaOcHtMNEB3symVH3-ij1e-403J-mi6rfDcyDO5jsCocOs6TdCAi97JAYBZY2CWTEhkfEYjkAghhdF0aJIKkawKULUVnuM/s400/IMG_1005_20181006163328386.jpg" width="400" /></a></span></b></div>
<b><span style="font-size: large;">The wood chairs have slats on the back. To pretty them up I plan to cut some satin table runners in half and sort of wrap them over the back hanging down. I'll then tie a lace sash around like you normally would.</span></b><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><br /></b>
<b>This is the idea, but not as fancy.</b></span><br />

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large; white-space: pre-wrap;">My friend Susan has a Silouette machine & offered to help me out with the wedding. I like the idea that we and our families can stay there and spend time together without worrying about transportation, etc. Everything will be convenient. We have a block of rooms reserved. OK, I chose them & Todd said that’s fine. 😘<br />

I’ve collected a lot of pictures for inspiration.<br />

<br />Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-720621407417498407.post-85589817613889249652018-08-23T17:45:00.001-04:002018-08-23T17:45:27.129-04:00First things first.It’s been about 6 weeks since I said “Yes!”. We’re having my ring custom made by <a href="https://kenanddanadesign.com/" target="_blank">Ken & Dana Design</a> & it should be done Sept. 1st. I’m so excited!<br />
<br />
In the meantime we’ve decided to keep it small, ~25 people, and I’ve been vetting venues. I’ve narrowed it down to 2 possibilities and Todd & I are going to visit both tomorrow evening.<br />
<br />
Possibility #1 is the <a href="http://www.thewoodfordinn.com/" target="_blank">Woodford Inn</a>. The ceremony would be on the front lawn and the reception in their main dining room, which we would have exclusive use of. Kim, the manager, has been awesome and would take over responsibility for set up, including decorations, and break down. That would leave me free most of the day to hang with family, do a spa day, etc. In addition, since we will both have family coming from out of town, we could all stay at the Inn: no transportation worries and plenty of room to spread out. It will cost more for linens due to the type and size of tables, and we’d need to rent chairs for the ceremony, but there will already be a band playing on the back patio so we can glom onto their party after dinner and such, saving us the cost of hiring one ourselves. We also know their food is awesome.<br />
<br />
Possibility #2 is the <a href="http://www.terriscatering.net/" target="_blank">Glen-Willis House</a>. The ceremony would be in the back yard, which is beautiful, and the reception inside. It’s owned byTerri’s Catering so they would supply the food. They have all the tables and chairs we’d need. They have the white garden chairs for outdoors and gold chiavari chairs indoors. I love the <a href="https://chiavarisales.com/shop/chiavari-chairs/gold-wood-stacking-chiavari-chair/" target="_blank">Chiavari chairs</a>, they’re very pretty and the gold would tie in with my color scheme (more on that later). Since they have 60” round tables the I’d only need 4 guest tables. That means fewer tablecloths and centerpieces. We’d have to do all the decorating ourselves and find lodging elsewhere for everybody. I have no idea about the food, but they have good reviews online.<br />
<br />
So, I’ll let you know how it goes. Ta!<br />
