I was able to spend a lot of time crafting this weekend and just finished up 6 more cards. Wow! So much fun!

This is one I made for the MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge - Sketch 501. It’s fairly simple, but cute, I think.

I used my Maker to print & cut the strips, then used 5 shades of ink to color them in. After gluing the strips on, I stamped the fern buds (Lavinia stamp) & added the sequins. That’s it!

The next card I made for the MFT Color Challenge 146. I used another Lavinia stamp for this one.

For this card I stamped around the edges of a piece of watercolor paper with the side of a damask/tapestry stamp, and used the Lavinia stamps in the middle. For all black stamping I use the MFT Extreme Black Hybrid ink pad. (I love this ink pad! It stamps clear & dark every time.)

Next I used blending brushes to add brown ink around the edges, mint/aqua on the bottom, and pink on the top. I used a coral ink inside the pods and then used a watercolor pen to remove some ink from inside the pods to add dimension. After gluing on pink & teardrop crystals, I added the sentiment strip.

I’m working on cards for the MFT Summer School. Four are done & I have one to go. I’ll post those shortly, once I’ve finished the last one.

Thanks for stopping by & have a great day!

Happy Birthday Poppies

Here is the card I made for the Simon Says 8/3/20 Monday challenge. We were to make a birthday card.

I recently received a set of poppy stamps and dies, so I wanted to use them. In addition, I’ve been wanting to try stamping with heat embossing.

I stamped the images with Ranger embossing ink on watercolor paper and embossed with Wow! white embossing powder.   I colored it with watercolor pens and added some green dot paper cut on my Maker.  Using a black Pentel roller ball I added the stitches on the paper and the black in the middle of the poppies. After adding the sentiment and some red & green pearls, I was done.

Not one of my favorite cards, but I learned a lot!

Here’s my latest latest card.  I think I went a bit overboard with the techniques, but I’m having fun trying out new methods and combinations.  I’m actually pretty happy with the way it turned out.

My idea was to combine some rustic features with some more elegant features for contrast.

For the base I used watercolor paper, and created the background by sprinkling Dark Brown Brushos on the paper and misting it with water (you can’t see much of it, but I did the back too so it shows up there).

For the mat I then took a wood grain embossing folder, ran medium tan ink lightly over the raised portion of the folder, then ran it through my Cuttlebug with tan cardstock.  I then cut it to size with a rectangular stitched die and ran a brown ink pad around the edges to keep the rustic look.  It would have probably looked better if I had gone down one size on the die.  Next time!

I used the Altenew Painted Flower stamp & die set to make the flowers, and another die to cut the corner flourishes out of cream shimmer paper. After die cutting 3 sets of the Happy Birthday and gluing them together, I heat embossed them with 3 layers of Lindy’s Stamp Gang Embossing Powder in Magic Moon Pearl.

To add a little extra texture, I added a few loops of burgundy and brown string.  The flowers were attached using foam dots

I am entering this in 2 challenges:

So here are some pictures of previous cards I’ve made.

Let me know what you think!

The Best Laid Plans...

Well, I had thought to quit this blog since the wedding I was planning didn’t happen. Oh, we did get married! However, since the Woodford Inn closed without warning the day after Christmas, we decided to elope instead.

As in any good relationship, it was a compromise.  I still wanted something special, not just a JOP/City Hall quickie.  Been there, done that.

We had been planning a vacation to NYC anyway, so we agreed to have a nice private ceremony in Central Park: with a real wedding dress, photographer, carriage ride, & nice wedding luncheon.  A few family members talked about coming but it didn’t work out.

P

So, on October 1st, 2019, 2 women came up to my hotel room to do my hair & makeup; and I donned a gorgeous wedding gown of champagne lace.   We were picked up at the hotel in a fancy Lincoln Navigator, and at the edge of Central Park caught a pedicab to the Shakespeare Garden.

The weather was gorgeous.  There were flowers blooming and butterflies galore.  Our Officiant and Photographer were wonderful & we had a lovely ceremony.

We then took a carriage ride around the park ending at Tavern On The Green, were we had lunch.  The food was so-so, but the atmosphere and service were very nice.

We spent a total of 8 nights in town, saw 5 shows, went to some museums, and ate great food.  What more could you ask for?

For us, it was perfect & we had a fantastic time.

So now, what to do with this blog? Well, I’ve begun a new crafting journey making greeting cards.  This includes paper crafting, stamping, heat embossing, painting, die cutting, pressure embossing, coloring, & a lot of artsy techniques that I’m just beginning to learn.  It’s a lot of fun.

So I’m going to begin posting my projects & what I learn as I go along. Here is some of my preliminary efforts.  Hope you enjoy!
