The Glen-Willis House

Well, we went to see the Glen-Willis House last weekend but naturally my phone went dead so I didn’t get pictures. I went back today thinking I could get some outside pics but there was somebody there working and she let me get some inside as well. Yay!

Here is the front:

Walking around to the backyard...

Down further by the pond is a pergola that I could decorate. Add some pretty garden chairs, flowers, & candles and it would be a beautiful spot for the ceremony.

We could even do something on the back porch.

The interior is very pretty too.
Here is the front entryway and hall.

Here are the rooms where the reception would be held.  Can’t you just see it all decorated?

Yeah, I’m really liking it. Todd liked it too.

Todd either wasn’t feeling well or my schedule was all over the place so we didn’t get to the Woodford Inn.  Hopefully we can go there for dinner this weekend.

First things first.

It’s been about 6 weeks since I said “Yes!”. We’re having my ring custom made by Ken & Dana Design & it should be done Sept. 1st.  I’m so excited!

In the meantime we’ve decided to keep it small, ~25 people, and I’ve been vetting venues. I’ve narrowed it down to 2 possibilities and Todd & I are going to visit both tomorrow evening.

Possibility #1 is the Woodford Inn. The ceremony would be on the front lawn and the reception in their main dining room, which we would have exclusive use of.  Kim, the manager, has been awesome and would take over responsibility for set up, including decorations, and break down.  That would leave me free most of the day to hang with family, do a spa day, etc. In addition, since we will both have family coming from out of town, we could all stay at the Inn: no transportation worries and plenty of room to spread out. It will cost more for linens due to the type and size of tables, and we’d need to rent chairs for the ceremony, but there will already be a band playing on the back patio so we can glom onto their party after dinner and such, saving us the cost of hiring one ourselves. We also know their food is awesome.

Possibility #2 is the Glen-Willis House. The ceremony would be in the back yard, which is beautiful, and the reception inside. It’s owned byTerri’s Catering so they would supply the food. They have all the tables and chairs we’d need. They have the white garden chairs for outdoors and gold chiavari chairs indoors. I love the Chiavari chairs, they’re very pretty and the gold would tie in with my color scheme (more on that later). Since they have 60” round tables the I’d only need 4 guest tables. That means fewer tablecloths and centerpieces. We’d have to do all the decorating ourselves and find lodging elsewhere for everybody. I have no idea about the food, but they have good reviews online.

So, I’ll let you know how it goes. Ta!

I decided to go with a theme of stars and to make my first shaker cards for the 4th. I found the small star shaker dies and the Paper Rose S...
